Incentives driving Barracuda managers
January 30, 2008: More than half of all Barracuda managers across the group's 216-strong estate won overseas trips last year as part of an incentive scheme, the company has revealed.
Around 115 managers and management couples beat their targets to visit such far-flung locations as Dubai, Australia and South Africa, supported by Barracudas marketing promotions.
Barracuda says this scheme makes it one of the most attractive pub and bar companies to work for.
In an industry that is notorious for its high turnover of staff, plus the volume of new houses that we are opening each year, recruitment and retention is a continual challenge," said Barracuda HR director Jane Biss.
"The incentives that we run are purposefully designed to be aspirational yet achievable, to give managers an additional motivation within their business and to reward them for all their hard work.
In 2007 alone Barracudas rapid expansion programme created 620 brand new jobs, representing a £28m investment, and it is due to open a further 25-plus new pubs and bars this year.
