Capital Pub Company profits up 19%

November 28, 2007: The Capital Pub Company has announced pre-tax profits up 19% to £970,000 for the 26 weeks to September 29, 2007.

During the period acquisitions of four freehold pubs were completed for a total of £10.1 million. In addition, contracts were exchanged on a further freehold pub in August for £2.2 million.

Since the year end contracts have been exchanged to acquire an additional leasehold freehouse — the Boaters Inn at Kingston-upon-Thames — for £450,000.

David Bruce, chief executive, said: “I am delighted to report that the company continues to expand. Our aim is to double the size of our current estate in the medium term. In our experience, trading in London has held up well despite the smoking ban and we are very pleased with this excellent set of results.”
