Cape St Katharine Docks busy from the outset

March 28, 2008: Following the launch of Barracudas fifth retail brand, Cape, last year, the managed pub company has unveiled its latest Cape bar in the St Katharine Docks area of London (pictured above).
Opened last night, the former Thomas More pub, on Nesham Street, has undergone a £170,000 investment to bring the Spirit of South Africa to the busy area.
Manager of Cape, Mark Frazer, said: The high-quality Cape concept suits the area really well. We were busy from the moment we opened, with a strong after-work customer base. Plenty of customers have already said that the pub is much smarter, more light and airy, and the contemporary food menu has been well received.
Cape St Katharine Docks offers the combination of a smart, modern bar with a comfortable interior that includes soft leather booth seating, plasma screens for sport, relaxing lounge areas and a mixture of light, wood and chrome.
Inspired by Cape Town, from which its name derives, Cape is colonial and cosmopolitan, combining modern fixtures and colours with an extensive wine list, cocktail selection, real ales, contemporary grazing menu and what Barracuda defines as a South African sense of hospitality.
Cape St Katharine Docks takes the total number of Cape bars to four and the total Barracuda Group estate to 216 across five retail brands, including the award-winning Smith & Jones and Varsity bars.
