Two new Barracuda pubs open

July 27, 2007: The Barracuda Group has added two new Smith & Jones pubs to its estate this week — The Wyre Light, in Fleetwood, and The Silk Worm, in Sudbury.

The successful opening of the two new pubs represents a combined investment of £1.6 million and the creation of around 60 news jobs. Names for both pubs were suggested by local residents and have been well received by customers.

Manager of The Silk Worm, Kathryn Brigden, said: “Choosing a name after the town’s former silk industry has been a really strong talking point with our customers. The opening night went really well and we’re confident that it’s going to be a popular place in the town for a variety of occasions.”

Following the opening of Barracuda’s 10th pub in Scotland earlier this month, the two new pubs are the first in a string of openings planned for August and September, including pubs planned in Dalkeith and Wisbech.
