Brakspear pubs sold in £106m deal
November 22, 2006: Brakspear's pub estate has been taken over by the J T Davies Group, in a deal worth £106m.
JT Davies already held a 30 per cent stake in Brakspear's, which closed its famous Henley-on-Thames brewery in 2002. The brewing side of the business was acquired by Wychwood, which still brews the Brakspear brands having moved the company's plant to its Witney, Oxfordshire base.
The 104 pubs involved in the deal will retain the Brakspear branding, and the 51 pubs J T Davies already owns will be converted to the Brakspear name too.
