M&B profit rise driven by food sales
May 20, 2008: Mitchells & Butlers saw resilient sales growth in the 28 weeks to April 12, reporting profit before tax of £84 million up 5.6%.
The firm says in is competing well in a tough market, seeing same outlet food sales up 5.1%, although comparative drink sales fell by 1.5%.
The company remains committed to converting to real estate investment trust (REIT) status as a tax efficiency measure.
