Blooming lovely garden at Kingston

l The stunning front of the Wych Elm, Kingston-upon-Thames

Fuller's commercial director, Tim Turner, and competition judge and chairman of Britain in Bloom, Jim Buttress, visited the pub to present Manuel and Janet with their certificate and a cheque for £150.
Fuller's hold an annual garden contest and categories include premier, beer garden, front of house and first-time entrant (beer garden and front of house). Any pub that has been either the overall competition winner or a category winner (with the exception of the first-time entrant) within the past two years must enter into the premier category. These pubs then compete against each other for a 'best of the best' prize.
Mr Buttress said: "Once again the pub is awash with colour from the front to the back. The mixture of cannas with their large red leaves and the purple verbena bonariensis is stunning. The mixed ivy geranium hanging baskets are overflowing with colour, and all contribute in drawing customers into the pub.
"The back garden has a Mediterranean feel to it. Wonderful selections of interesting and unusual climbing plants adorn the trellised patio, banana, abutilons and bougainvilleas to name but a few.
"It is an absolute joy to visit and the standard of maintenance is excellent."
