London Pride promotions for Rugby World Cup

August 17, 2007: Fuller's is gearing up for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup with a range of promotions and activity in pubs and supermarkets.

Within Fuller’s pubs, planning is already well under way. A Rugby World Cup action team has been put in place, and pubs are receiving regular e-mails counting down to the start of the tournament.

Ideas to promote and support the competition include menu dishes and beers from participating countries, competitions around score predictions and top try scorers, a Jonny Wilkinson drop kick competition in pub gardens, and an in-pub Haka contest.

All this activity will be supported by rugby-themed point of sale and promotions around London Pride in both the on- and the off-trade.

Customers can collect for a limited edition London Pride rugby shirt, by collecting 10 stamps – one with every pint of London Pride purchased. This will run throughout September in a number of Fuller’s pubs and London Pride free trade stockists. In supermarkets, there will be a similar promotion for a rugby shirt – which can be purchased for £10.99 and three bottle tops.

Brands marketing manager, David Spencer, said: “The rugby shirt promotion is just part of our autumn activity to make sure that London Pride remains London’s favourite ale. Rugby fans are as passionate and dedicated about their sport as we are about our beer and rugby is a natural partner to real ale, London Pride in particular."
