Laurel to close another 60 pubs

March 17, 2008: The Laurel Pub Company is to close 60 pubs just a month after shutting another 24.

The pubs cost more to run than they are taking. The sites affected are run under brands such as Yates, Litten Tree and Hog's Head.

The largest shareholder in the company is R20, the vehicle of investor Robert Tchenguiz.

The company is said to be investigating refinancing options.
