Barracuda adds new pub brand

April 15, 2007: The Barracuda Group has launched its fifth retail brand Cape in Nottingham city centre.
Located at the former Priory pub on the edge of the popular lace market, Cape promises to bring a spirit of South Africa to the streets of Nottingham.
England Sevens player and Ambassador for Tetleys, Pat Sanderson, joined manager Steve Brown to open the new bar and toast Barracudas new brand. Representing a £500,000 investment, Cape has created around 50 full and part time jobs, all of whom have undergone a substantial training programme ready to launch the new brand.
Inspired by Cape Town, from which its name derives, Cape is smart, colonial and cosmopolitan, combining modern fixtures and colours with an extensive wine list, contemporary grazing menu and a South African sense of hospitality that comes complete with full table service.
Barracuda chief executive Mark McQuater said: Cape is an extension of Barracudas enviable award-winning portfolio of brands and one that will add a unique point of difference in Nottingham's busy city centre."
Barracuda already successfully operates four retail brands across almost 200 pubs throughout the UK, including the Smith & Jones and Varsity bars. The interior of Cape offers a further insight into a colonial South African wine bar including soft leather booth seating, relaxing lounge areas and a mixture of light, wood and chrome.
