Shadow minister to meet pub campaigner
June 11, 2008: The driving force behind the Save the Great British Pub campaign is to meet a top Conservative spokesman later this month for talks on the huge problems the pub industry faces.
Inez Ward, licensee of Mavericks pub, in Newquay, Cornwall, will seek to enlist the aid of Shadow Culture Secretary Tobias Ellwood to stop pubs closing, by tackling issues such as supermarket price cutting, the raft of legislation licnsees face and the often strained relationship between pubcos and their tenants.
The meeting will take place in Westminster on June 26.
