Shoulder of Mutton wins top Northern award

April 9, 2008: The Shoulder of Mutton, in Kirkby Overblow, North Yorkshire, has been named pub of the year in the Northern Hospitality Awards, presented at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

The other shortlisted finalists were: the Bayley Arms, Lancashire; the Highway Man, Lancashire; the Q Bar, Cheshire; and the Swettenham Arms, Cheshire.

The Pipe and Glass Inn, South Dalton, East Yorkshire, was named newcomer of the year.
