Green-fingered advice at the Hare and Hounds

June 8, 2008: Two of London’s top horticultural experts will be offering advice and tips to West London gardeners at the Hare and Hounds, a Fuller’s pub in Osterley, on July 14.

Tickets for the event cost £7.50 and include canapés and a glass of wine or pint of Fuller’s London Pride.

The evening’s experts are Mark Wasilewski and Jim Buttress. Mark is the park manager for St James’s Park and Green Park, a trustee of London in Bloom and vice-chairman of the judging panel of the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom campaign.

Jim Buttress is the chairman of the Guild of Horticultural Trade Judges and of the London Gardens Society. He was chairman of London in Bloom for 10 years, recently retired as chair of the RHS Britain in Bloom panel of judges and is the regular judge for the Fuller’s gardens competition.

Oliver Warne, manager of the Hare & Hounds, said: “We have a number of keen gardeners among our regular customers and this seemed like a great opportunity to help them improve their skills and pick up some handy tips.

“Being next door to a large garden centre, I’m also hoping to promote attract some new customers to the pub too. In addition, we’ve got a large beer garden at the Hare and Hounds, so I’ll be looking for some tips for me too.”

Tickets are available in advance from the pub and numbers will be limited. The event starts at 7pm.
