Acquisitions boost Pubs 'n' Bars profits

June 7, 2008: Profits before tax at Pubs 'n' Bars plc rose 107% to £1.025 million in the year to December 31, 2007.

The huge rise came on the back of the acquisition of Moorgate London Ltd, Community Taverns LTD and Moorgate Taverns LTD, taking Pubs 'n' Bars' total estate to 106 establishments.

Chairman Seamus Murphy said: "I am pleased to report a good set of results achieved under challenging conditions including the indoor smoking ban, cheap supermarket alcohol and rising duties on beer, wine and spirits.

“We are confident that our community-driven pub business model will remain robust at a time when consumers are more cautious with their leisure spend.”
