Mayor re-opens Banbury's Coach and Horses
l Here's to the new-look Coach and Horses. Left to right are Hook Norton managing director David Clarke, Coach and Horses licensee David Organ, Banbury Mayor Kieron Mallon, chef Paul Organ and Hook Norton chairman Richard Gilchrist.
June 5, 2008: Mayor of Banbury, Kieron Mallon, has officially opened Hook Norton's most recent pub refurbishment, The Coach and Horses, in Butchers Row, Banbury.
In recent months the Coach and Horses has been transformed inside and out. It is a great example of a pub that offers good food, excellent service and excellent Hook Norton real ales..
Hooky Norton managing director, James Clarke, said: "This has been a big project for us. We want The Coach and Horses to become one of the most successful pubs in Banbury.
Inside, the pub is light and airy, with a contemporary, comfortable feel. Outside, the enclosed and secure seating area has the feel of a Mediterranean courtyard, and on a warm day it is the perfect place to relax.
The Coach and Horses is a place where you can just pop in and have an Espresso, a glass of Hook Norton beer or even Champagne as you surf the internet on the pub's WiFi.
It is not just the cask ales that are locally produced, the menu is full of wonderful seasonal dishes made with ingredients grown nearby. Currently, many of the dishes are prepared using asparagus grown in nearby Evesham. And the slow cooked shoulder of lamb should prove very popular.
The pub's tenant David Organ is looking for local organic growers from whom he can buy his vegetables.
