201st Barracuda pub opens in St Annes

May 4, 2007: Barracuda branched out into the coastal town of St Annes this week when it opened its latest Smith & Jones pub, The Sandhills.

Named after the area’s famous sandhills and dunes which form a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the Sandhills pub is the first on the Fylde coast near Blackpool for Barracuda Group. It also takes the company’s estate to a total of 201 pubs and bars after last month’s 200th milestone opening at Swadlincote, Derbyshire.

Manager of The Sandhills, Gary Smith, said: "The opening night was very busy and the feedback we’ve had from customers has been fantastic. Some people were surprised that we opened in St Annes and not Blackpool, but judging by the way that customers were queuing up to be the first through the door on the opening night — I think we will bring a new high quality offer to the town.”

Interiors of The Sandhills include comfortable leather booth and sofa seating, wood block and carpet flooring in a contemporary finish that makes it perfect for day or night time visits.
