Punch Bowl is Michelin pub of the year
September 3, 2008: The Punch Bowl Inn, Crosthwaite, Cumbria, is named Michelin Pub of the Year 2009 in Michelins Eating Out in Pubs guide, published today.
The Punch Bowl Inn enjoys a delightful rural setting
and has characterful interior features, with smart, homely furnishings.
Cooking makes the best of local, seasonal produce, and there is even home-brewed
beer, Tag Lag, from sister company Barngates
Brewery.
There are several charming areas: a pleasant decked terrace; three delightful
bar rooms with open fires and squashy sofas; a dining room with leather
chairs and polished tables; and a snug sitting room ideal for afternoon
tea. The mood is relaxed and comfortable.
Michelin's Eating Out in Pubs guide is published at £14.99.
