Fuller's launches chip competition
February 2, 2008: Fullers is setting out to find the tastiest and most interesting chips in its managed pub estate in a competition to celebrate National Chip Week, which runs from February 11 to 17. The winner will receive an exceptional potato peeler trophy and a bottle of Champagne.
Pubs will have to use British potatoes to make hand-cut chips and the judges will be looking for taste, crunch, good shape and an interesting serving idea that could be the receptacle the chips arrive in, the way they are displayed, or an interesting array of dipping sauces. The chips must be available on the pubs menu throughout National Chip Week.
Fuller's operations director, Jonathon Swaine, said: "Everyone loves chips and we thought it would be a good idea to get involved with National Chip Week, which is run by the British Potato Council.
"Customers will often judge a pub by the quality of its chips, so we see a long-term benefit from encouraging our pubs to think about the way they prepare and serve this pub favourite."
