SIBA sponsors Publican Live beer fest

March 31, 2007: The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) is to sponsor the cask ale festival at this year’s Publican Live event at Olympia next week.

Organised through its Direct Delivery Scheme (DDS) there will be 16 local ales at the show, including the winner of the 2007 SIBA National Beer Competition, Howard Town’s Wren’s Nest.

Last years’ show attracted 8,000 visitors over the three days, including pub company directors and business development managers, so it is a great opportunity to sample a small number of the excellent beers available through DDS, and to demonstrate how stocking a local ale can boost overall pub sales.

Through DDS pub companies and their individual pubs can choose many ales from hundreds of local brewers and have the beer delivered directly to the pub in an administratively simple and cost-effective manner.

By the end of April more than 1,500 pubs, 200 supermarket outlets and 2,000 high street off-licences will have signed up to the system.

DDS managing director, Nick Stafford, has just reported sales for last year in excess of £ 4.5 million.

The SIBA DDS sponsored beer festival at Publican Live also offers show visitors not only the experience of being at a beer festival but all the advice and information on how to organise one in a pub. It will give the chance to find out about and see all the equipment needed; how to set it up; how to store and dispense the beer – and also how easy it is.
