Everards named pub company of the year
March 30, 2007: Everards has been named pub company of the year at the Publican Awards. It took the prize for tenanted / leased companies with 100 or more outlets.
Everards managing director Stephen Gould said: We are delighted as this is the first time we have entered these categories; it is great to have the support we provide our licensees and national account customers recognised in these prestigious and highly competitive awards.
"Winning in the pub company of the year category is a reflection of our commitment to providing great pubs, great beers, great innovation and great support.
"This is evident in our innovative training programmes and the launch of a stand-alone training facility, The Academy, through to financial investment in the pubs and regular contact between the licensees and the BDMs [brewery district managers] and the HR department, aiming to support great people to run great pubs."
This adds to what has been a successful period for Everards, with highlights including the Cyclops tasting guide, developed by the firm in conjunction with the Campaign for Real Ale, which aims to simplify beer tasting and continues gain momentum as an industry standard. Also, the company's redesigned website has so far been very well received and has led to a record number of licensee applications.
