Peterborough drinkers boost lifeboat fund
August 29, 2006: The Peterborough Beer Festival may not have been as packed as usual because of unseasonal weather, but the thirsty punters certainly put their hands in their pockets, raising around £10,000 towards a new lifeboat.
This will be the fourth lifeboat for which funds have been raised at the event, famous as the second biggest beer festival in the UK after the Great British Beer Festival in London.
Champion beer was Thornbridge Jaipur, with local old favourite Oakham JHB second, and Church End stout coffin third.
