RIP Cask Beer Week

August 28, 2006: For those, like me, who may have been looking forward to Cask Beer Week 2006, well - it looks like this annual celebration of the work of the brewer may have bitten the dust.

The event was established by the Independent Family Brewers of Britain in 2001 and had the support of CAMRA in offering a week of special events to promote real ale brands.

It seems, however, from Beer Today's investigation, that the majority of brewers are not interested in supporting the event and now CAMRA has decided, too, to "take a back step with the project".

CAMRA, instead, is devoting its attention to the development of the Cyclops easy beer identification system.
