The Liverpool brewery has crafted a fully functional bar, featuring original artwork by Sir Peter Blake. Cains Superlambanana, complete with a Union Jack paint design and plush leather draught bar, which will be on display until August 25.

Based on Cains' Finest Lager Beer bottle design, by the Sgt Pepper's cover artist, it needed 35 cans of acrylic paint and took six days to finish.

Sir Peter said: "Cains Brewery and its beers are woven into the history and culture of Liverpool. The dynamic Superlambanana that Cains have created is very exciting and I'm delighted to be involved in their celebrations during 2008".

Cains, who count Quentin Tarantino among their Hollywood fans, said they wanted their Lambanana to be truly interactive.

Owner Ajmail Dusanj said: "We wanted to come up with a Lambanana with a real twist and super fun functionality. We looked at other entries and a lot of them feature brilliantly colourful designs, but they are mostly static.

"Ours is truly interactive, featuring a real handpump which pulls pints of Cains Finest Lager. And once the festival has finished people will still be able to come down to the brewery and enjoy a pint with our Superlambanana."
