Seeing red: new version of Guinness is tested
January 27, 2007: First Guinness went extra cold now its turning red!
The Irish brewer is testing the Red version of the brew which uses malt that has been roasted slightly less than the black version in various venues throughout the UK.
In all other aspects creamy head, slow pour time it's just like normal Guinness.
It's been brewed especially for the British market. There are no plans to market it in Ireland, although over the water the firm is market testing a 2.8% lower alcohol version of the original beer. The normal ABV is 4.1%.
