Wells & Young's aims for 500,000 barrels
September 26, 2006: The newly-merged Wells & Young's Brewery aims to increase production of cask ale to more than 500,000 barrels in its first year.
Managing director Nigel McNally says there is an opportunity for the firm to have a good slice of the market, even though he sees cask ale as a declining brand.
The merged operation will officially start next Monday, but with two seasonal Young's ales missing from the portfolio - Kew Brew and Golden Zest.
