Rhymney Dark is champion Welsh beer

November 25, 2007: Rhymney Brewery's 3.6% beer Dark has been named champion beer of Wales at the Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival, staged in Cardiff's City Hall.

The beer was judged the best of some 200 real ales brewed every year in Wales, which is gaining an excellent reputation for producing some of the UK's finest beers.

The Bryncelyn brewery had the runner-up and third placed beers with, respectively, Holly Hops and Buddy Marvellous.

There will be a new date and venue for the 2008 festival. It will be held at the Cardiff International Arena from June 12 to 14.
