CAMRA Kernow success in anniversary year
June 25, 2007: Members of the Cornwall branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) toasted another excellent year when they staged their annual meeting at Skinners Brewery, Truro.
It was announced that in this, the branch 30th anniversary year, membership in Cornwall had risen to 755. Nationally, the group widely held to be the most successful consumer pressure group of all time has more than 85,000 members.
The branchs two regular annual beer festivals, at St Ives in June and Falmouth in October, continue to be hugely successful, and a reformatted version of its quarterly newsletter, One and Ale, is proving popular with readers and advertisers alike..
Editor Steve Willmott said: Its very heartening indeed to have enjoyed such a warm response overall to the changes that have been made to the magazine.
The new glossy format and colour printing has garnered a lot of praise from both branch members, to whom its mailed, and from those readers who happen across it in the countys pubs.
At the end of the meeting the new committee was duly elected and it was proposed that a bit of a drink be had to sign off. The motion was instantly seconded!
