The 6.5% ABV brew will be available in pubs across the country from November 1 to December 31, and is sure to be a star attraction in Wetherspoon's forthcoming autumn beer festival, which runs from November 1-18.
Delivering, says Greene King, a rich taste combined with fruity aromas, Abbot Reserve is being heralded as a great accompaniment to seasonal foods. Dishes said to be suited to the brew include Christmas dinner, fruit cake, steak and ale pie, warm rich pasta and cheese platters.
John Bexon, Greene King's head brewer, describes Abbot Reserve as "a distinctive, full-bodied, smooth and mature beer ... bursting with rich fruit cake and toffee flavours.
"This rich, malty beer is perfect to drink on its own or can be enjoyed with full-flavoured foods. We are confident that this distinctive brew will prove a hit with ale lovers looking for a new festive tipple."
Special edition Abbot Reserve is available to Greene King managed pubs and pub partners, free trade and national outlets. Orders for the ale can be placed by calling Greene King Solutions on 0845 850 4545.
