Newcastle Brown celebrates Angel's anniversary
June 24, 2008: Newcastle Brown Ale is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Angel of the North statue by introducing special edition labels across the on and off trade.

The celebratory front label shows the Antony Gormleys statue and the new back label provides a brief description of the iconic symbol of regeneration in and around the North East, the heartland of Newcastle Brown Ale.
The statue, which stands more than 20 metres high and has a wingspan of 54 metres, overlooks Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne from the edge of the A1. It is seen by more than 90,000 people every day or 33 million every year.
John Edwards, marketing director of Jygsaw Brands, said: The Angel of the North represents so much about the community of the North East. They are exceptionally proud of their heritage and we are as equally passionate about it.
"Just as 'The Star of the North', with its iconic blue star, recently celebrated its first 80 years, so we are proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this great North East landmark and in doing so promote the culture, the people and the whole of the North East.
On and off trade bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale will carry the Angel labels and the celebration will include an Angel Party, bringing local artists and the community together to Low Fell Hill, Gateshead, where the Angel stands.
