Red Lion takes Fuller's pub award
November 23, 2005: Fuller's
Griffin Trophy, awarded to the best pub in the brewery's estate, has been
won this year by the Red Lion, Barnes, London, managed by Claire Morgan
and Angus McKean.
The trophy is awarded to the Fuller's managed or tenanted pub which
most impresses a panel of judges with its appearance, quality of ales
and
cellar, food, atmosphere, commitment and enthusiasm.
The Red Lion also won the beer garden category in the Fuller's gardens
competition earlier this year, and appears in the 2006 edition of the
Good Beer Guide.
Fuller's chief executive Michael Turner said: "The Red Lion is an
absolute delight. Claire and Angus joined the pub at a time when it was
struggling after a refurbishment and they have really turned things around.
They have built a strong team, and made the pub one that Fuller's is proud
to own."
