Bohemia Regent back on UK shelves

October 21, 2005: Bohemia Regent classic Czech lagers are being imported into the UK again after a break of several years.
The brewery, founded more than 600 years ago, is one of only half a dozen or so Czech breweries highlighted in Roger Protz's Complete Guide to World Beer. It still nestles within the city walls of the medieval town of Trebon, in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic, only 15 miles from its behemoth neighbour Budweiser Budvar.
Chairman of the board of directors, Ing. Ferdinand Stasek, said: "As Bohemia was, for many years, under German domination, purity laws remain the foundation of our brewery's production - with top quality barley, famous Bohemian Saaz hops, yeast and water - nothing else.
"Bohemia Regent is being distributed in the UK by the specialist beer company James Clay of Elland who have a well-deserved name for picking their portfolio carefully."
Prezident is Bohemia Regent's 6% premium lager. After 90 days lagering, it finishes with a full hoppy flavour and sweet taste on the palate.
Bohemia Regent's 5% Golden Lager, with its moderate bitterness, is an easy drinking lager while the 4.4% Dark Lager is ruby red in colour with an appealing aroma of hops and bitter chocolate. A hoppy, malty froth is reminiscent of cappuccino coffee.
