Tribute on menu at Fifteen Cornwall

l James Staughton, managing director of St Austell Brewery, meets Jamie Oliver at the opening of the chef's Fifteen Cornwall restauarant

May 20, 2006: St Austell Brewery has been chosen to supply all beers and the majority of wines to Fifteen Cornwall, Jamie Oliver's new restaurant in Watergate Bay, near Newquay.

As well as stunning views over the two-mile surfing beach and an exciting menu using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, diners can enjoy Tribute ale from St Austell Brewery.

The restaurant will be dedicated to the same inspirational social enterprise goals set out by Jamie and his team at Fifteen in London. All profits will go to the Cornwall Foundation of Promise, whose purpose is to create fantastic career opportunities for disadvantaged local youngsters and help them to achieve their full potential.

The restaurant will also provide a valuable boost to Cornwall’s tourism industry and make use of the abundance of high quality local food producers in the region.

Jamie Oliver joined his team of recruits for the grand opening of the restaurant on Thursday, working alongside the 21 trainee chefs to prepare a treat for 126 people at the launch-day fundraising lunch.

As well as being the sole supplier of beers to the restaurant, St Austell is the main supplier of wines through its Walter Hicks wine merchant business.

James Staughton, managing director of St Austell Brewery, who met Jamie Oliver at the fundraising lunch, said: “Cornwall Strikes Again! The Fifteen experience is a world-beater.

"As a family company which is proud of its Cornish roots we are very enthusiastic about the Fifteen Cornwall project, which is all about helping local young people to thrive and develop careers in catering, and are delighted that Fifteen Cornwall has chosen us as a major supplier.

"It is a fantastic tribute to our brewing and our wine business to be part of one of the UK’s most eagerly anticipated new restaurants.”
