During the course of the 15-day festival nights the pub is staging five 'meet the brewer' nights featuring well-known producers from the West Country.

Taking part will be brewers from Bath Ales (on April 23), RCH (April 30), Exmoor (May 1), Butcombe (May 2) and Cottage (May 3).

The events will take the form of talks by the brewers, beer tastings, a question and answer session and a charity raffle in aid of CLIC.

Steve Wright, duty manager of the Commercial Rooms, said: “Too many beer festivals are just about selling as much beer as you can — we wanted to do something different with ours and get some of our local breweries to come and talk to our customers about how they brew their beer to make our event more involved and interesting for everyone concerned."

During the course of the festival there will be more than 50 real ales, five of which are new beers (not brewed before 2007), six award winning beers and two European. Thirty will be from national brewers, such as Harviestoun, Batemans and Elgood’s, while another 20 will be from local breweries.
