Beer commemorates engineering genius
![]() |
December 17, 2005: To mark next year's 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the nation's foremost engineers Butcombe Brewery has launched Brunel 200 beer.
The beer is a draught India Pale Ale that will be available in bottles in February. In addition, Butcombe is providing more than 150,000 beer mats with Brunel images.
Leslie Perrin, Chairman of Brunel 200, said at the launch: "We are delighted to have the support and involvement of Butcombe Brewery in Brunel 200.
"They were one of the first supporters of the celebrations. They also make brilliant beer, which I am enjoying already."
Guy Newell, managing director of Butcombe Brewery, said: "We're always keen to work with initiatives like Brunel 200. This new beer provides something for our customers and helps spread the Brunel message."
