Wolverhampton & Dudley 'a real winner'
April 17, 2005: Ralph Findlay, chief executive of Wolverhampton & Dudley, has turned the company from a laggard to a real winner, the Sunday Times reports today.
The report comes as W&D prepares for another acquisition - that of Jennings, the Lakeland brewer whose catchment area abuts that of the larger company.
W&D fought off a hostile bid from the Pubmaster group in 2001, valuing the company at £485m. Today the firm is reckoned to be worth £842m, following the acquisition of Burtonwood, Wizard Inns and the Mansfield and Marston's breweries.
