News of the brews

August 16, 2005: Adnams is working on a second batch of its Trafalgar-commemorative beer Flagship, which is due on bars in September. In the meantime another special, Explorer - a blond beer with New World hops - is going down well.

Caledonian's seasonal for August is Tattoo (4.2%), named after the annual event at Edinburgh castle. Spicy, fragrant Willamette hops, from Oregon, contribute to a ligering malt and hop flavour.

Robinson's summer thirst-quencher is Sunny Jim (3.8%).

Meanwhile, Cairngorm goes for a stronger brew, White Lady at 4.7%. Gold award winner in the wheat, Bavarian style category at the 2004 SIBA National Beer Competition, the beer is 60% wheat and has a fruity flavour with a hint of spice.
