Fuller's completes gastropub acquisitions

August 16, 2005: Fuller's has completed the purchase of four London gastropubs in a private sale. The four pubs - which were purchased for an undisclosed sum - are the Pilot in Chiswick, Stonemason's Arms in Hammersmith, Mason's Arms in Battersea, and the Grand Union in Ladbroke Grove.

All four are well established, with excellent reputations, say Fuller's, and all are freehold properties.

With their open kitchens, the pubs are a natural fit with Fuller's existing dining properties - the current staff and chefs will be moving to Fuller's with the purchase.

Apart from the introduction of its range real ales, Fuller's will not be changing the style of the pubs at all.

Retail director Simon Emeny said: "This is a fantastic acquisition for us. These well-known pubs are a perfect fit with our existing estate, especially those pubs with a particular focus on quality dining.

"We are looking to increase the size of our estate and these pubs are a great addition. They will enhance our portfolio and suit our strategy of focusing on great food, cask ale, wine and service."
