Archers in administration

May 16, 2007: Swindon brewer Archers has gone into administration.

The firm — which has 20 staff — is based in the former Great Western locomotive works and has gained a reputation in the past few years for brewing a portfolio of some 190, mostly hoppy, light ales.

Its IPA was named champion beer at SIBA South West's Newton Abbot festival last year.

The business is still running under administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers, who are actively seeking a buyer.

The step of going into administration has been blamed on cashflow problems.

Anyone interested in buying the business is asked to contact Amerjit Singh at PricewaterhouseCoopers on 0207 583 5000.
