Beer good for your bones research shows

May 15, 2006: Yet more evidence that a little of what we fancy does us good with the news that beer can be good for our bones.

Research carried out at St Thomas's Hospital, in London, revealed that beer appeared to inhibit the action of hormones known to weaken bones, leading to osteoporosis.

The beneficial effect of the ethanol in the liquid was seen as comparable with that of calcium.

Osteoporosis is thought to affect more than 3 million people in the UK.
