Former Gales pub refurbished by Fuller's

September 13, 2006: Fuller's has re-opened the Wyvern pub, at Lee on the Solent, in Hampshire, following extensive refurbishment.
Special guests Fred Dinenage from Meridian TV (best known for his appearances on Meridian Tonight and the childrens programme HOW2) and Keith Gill, Deputy Mayor of Gosport, joined Fullers chief executive Michael Turner, and pub manager Alex Wickham to pull the ceremonial first pint and officially re-open the pub.
Prior to the opening, the local infants school was visited by Fullers famous shire horses Griffin and Pride. John Medhurst, who looks after the horses, gave the children a short presentation about the horses.
Fullers purchased the Wyvern, as part of its acquisition of Gales, in 2005, and in July 2006 it underwent extensive refurbishment at a cost of £210,000. Works included external repairs and redecoration, internal redecoration, new furnishings, lighting and landscaping of the garden. The pub has a charming exterior and a wonderfully warm and inviting atmosphere, with a newly created open fire as the centrepiece.
Simon Emeny, managing director of Fullers Inns said: The Wyvern is a fantastic pub set right in the heart of the local community. It offers excellent food, great beer and a selection of wines and a really warm, friendly welcome to everyone who steps through the door.
