Gales brew supports Seafarers charity

l Surgeon
Vice-Admiral Ian Jenkins, chairman of Seafarers UK, adds hops to a brew
to be sold in aid of the charity
August 13, 2007: Gales Seafarers Ale is being launched by parent company Fuller's, to benefit individuals who have worked at sea.
For every pint sold, five pence will be donated to Seafarers UK, a national charity that supports people who have worked at sea. Seafarers UK gives grants to organisations that work directly with serving and former members of the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and fishing fleets and their families.

Available from September 1, Gales Seafarers Ale is a 3.8% ABV beer, brewed with the finest Maris Otter malt, English Admiral hops and the unique Gales yeast for what Fuller's says is a hugely satisfying, refreshing taste.
A fresh "bracing" aroma of zesty and spicy hops is followed by a palate full of fruit and malt character. It then sail through to the finish with a satisfying hop flavour and gentle bitterness.
Gales Seafarers Ale will be available on draught in selected Fullers, Gales and free trade pubs, as part of Fullers Autumn Beer Festival, which involves a different special beer for each of the three months of the season.
John Roberts, managing director of the Fullers Beer Company, said: Gales Seafarers Ale is a fantastic beer, brewed to an old recipe from the Gales brewing book.
"We're delighted to carry on the tradition of supporting our nation's seafarers, and I personally can't think of a more enjoyable way to do your bit for charity."
Seafarers UK chairman, Surgeon Vice-Admiral Ian Jenkins, said: I am thrilled that Fullers is supporting the work of Seafarers UK by producing this delicious new ale.
"The money raised from the sale of every pint will mean a great deal to those people who have devoted their lives to working at sea and who have fallen on unfortunate times.
"As an island nation, we depend on seafarers for our defence, food and consumer goods. Many elderly, injured and homeless seafarers, and their families and widows, now rely on charitable help. By buying a pint of Seafarers Ale you are personally contributing vital aid to those in need."
