Skinner's Sinner Singers seek new recruits

l The Skinner's Sinner Singers in action at the 2005 Great British Beer Festival
June 12, 2006: A Cornish choir with arguably the countrys most challenging name is looking to boost its ranks with more members from across the county.
Skinners' Sinners Singers, which many find hard enough to pronounce even while sober, have quickly made a name for themselves after taking the Great British Beer Festival at London Olympia by storm last year.
Representing their namesake Truro-based brewery, the loosely-knit choir occasionally entertains on the Cornish pub scene for charity, although this years highlight will again be attendance at the GBBF in August, this time at earl's Court.
The nucleus of our members come from Newquay Rowing Club, said brewery managing director Steve Skinner. "We would like to have a wider geographic spread by welcoming more members from across the county who can be called upon at various times.
He explained: It is a very informal structure. We are basically a bunch of like-minded souls who enjoy getting together from time to time for a traditional Cornish shout.
We all like our beer - which is a good start - and we all like singing. You could say any new members will be joining our band of merry men - theyre very merry by the end of a session! Its quite possible we are Britains only brewery with its own choir and definitely the one with the hardest name to pronounce!
Anyone interested is invited to contact Skinners Brewery (01872 271885) for an application form.
