Duchy Organic Ale makes cask debut

September 11, 2007: Duchy Originals Organic Ale is being made available in cask for the first time, going on sale as a guest ale in Ember Inns pubs until the end of the month.

Brewed by Wychwood, in Oxfordshire, the ruby-coloured beer uses a rare breed of barley called Plumage Archer, harvested from British organic farms.

Wychwood head brewer Jeremy Moss said: “This is the first time we have racked Duchy Original Ale into casks — it has all the character and flavour of the bottled beer, but it will continue its secondary fermentation in the cask so has the fresh and lively character that uniquely comes from traditional hand pulled beer.”
