Special edition beers for Naval Air Station
June 11, 2007: Truro, Cornwall-based Skinner's Brewery has strengthened its links with the Royal Naval Air Station at Culdrose, near Helston, with the creation of two special beers.
Falklands 25 marks the 25th anniversary of the Falklands conflict, in which squadrons from Culdrose played a vital role, while Fleet Air Arm marks the stations diamond jubilee year.
Skinner's regularly produce a special Fleet Air Arm beer in recognition of those who fly for the Royal Navy and the economic benefits that Culdrose brings to Cornwall.
This years Fleet Air Arm bottle has a label designed by leading air engineering technician 'Spider' Webb, from 792 Squadron, featuring aircraft flown by Navy personnel over the past 60 years.
Skinner's is donating 10p per bottle sold to Seafarers UK, the charity that provides support to all seafarers.
Culdrose commanding officer Capt Philip Thicknesse said: We are very grateful for the support that Skinner's have given Culdrose over the years and hope that through these special edition beers, and the kindness of Skinner's Brewery, the Seafarers charity will make lots of money.
Culdrose is one of Europes largest naval helicopter bases and a major Cornish employer, with around 3,000 servicemen and civilians.
