Formidable Ale to be sold in one-pint can

January 11, 2007: Cains is launching what it says is the first ever British ale to be sold in a one pint can.

Cains FA (Formidable Ale) will be available in a traditional British pint at more than 180 ASDA stores.

The launch follows a recent ruling by the European Union confirming that the UK can keep imperial measurements. It forms part of Cains’ ‘Best of British’ concept that will also see the company invest in a series of refurbishments across its 105-strong pub estate.

Cains chief executive Sudarghara Dusanj, said: “The pint is a cornerstone of British culture and, as one of the UK’s leading craft brewers, we’re keen to celebrate this great British tradition and bring the pint firmly into the off-trade.

“Cains FA has been one of our top selling lines since it was first introduced and we’re confident that the new pint can will prove popular with drinkers.”

Cains FA is a classic golden English ale, full bodied yet light and delicate, with a clean bitterness balanced by a rich fruitiness.

Cain’s ‘Best of British’ concept will be at the heart of the company’s activity throughout 2008. As part of this it is already a key sponsor supporting Liverpool during its European Capital of Culture year, for which is the official beer.
