Vodka is so passe: Russia gets the taste for beer
July 10, 2006: When Tony Blair attends the G8 summit in Russia later this week he will find a country getting a taste for beer in a big way, reports Andrew Cave in the Daily Telegraph.
The country now offers 1,395 brands, with Scottish and Newcastle and Carlsberg's joint venture the number one producer.
There is even an Irish pub in St Petersburg selling, curiously, Shepherd Neame Spitfire.
