Courage Best named official darts beer

December 8, 2007: Courage Best is to become the official beer of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) for two major darts tournaments — the 2007 PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts and the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship

The deal will see iconic beer, Courage Best, stocked at all the tournaments in the coming months. A further phase of the deal will see the tiered seating at Alexandra Palace for the Ladbrokes.com World Championship over Christmas renamed The Courage Stand.

Chris Lewis, director of marketing for Wells and Young's Brewing Company, said: "Courage Best and darts fit really well together. Over 30,000 pubs have a dart board, and this very British past time is an institution in pubs and homes across the country.

"The Courage Best sponsorship of darts is a key part of the beer’s relaunch as it engages both our drinkers and pubs. Throughout the rest of this year, and beyond, Courage Best will effectively be the drink of darts."

PDC chief executive Tim Darby added: "Courage Best is a nationally recognised beer and it is a pleasure to welcome them as sponsors of the Professional Darts Corporation. I’m sure our fans will thoroughly enjoy their beers as well as watching the World Championship from The Courage Stand!”
