Support for Beautiful Beer awards
August 7, 2006: Brewers and pub companies showed their support for the Beautiful Beer awards, accepting corporate supporter plaques to display at their head offices.
The plaques were presented to senior executives from 13 companies at the annual dinner of the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group (APPBG), and also sent subsequently to all members of the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA).
John Grogan, chairman of the APPBG, said: Enjoying a refreshing beer in the pub is one of our greatest pleasures in life, and drinkers deserve to be given a quality beer, every time.
"These awards, which recognise and reward pubs serving excellent beer, are to be applauded, and it is good to see strong industry-wide support for the scheme.
The Beautiful Beer Awards were launched by the BBPA in March 2006 to recognise and reward pubs delivering excellence in beer. The awards, available at gold and platinum level, are open to all pubs across the country. Applicants have to pass a thorough assessment by a trained inspector to achieve a Beautiful Beer Award plaque.
