Skinner's to help boost fishermen's charity
September 6, 2006: Skinners Brewery, of Truro, Cornwall, is producing a new limited edition run of 2,000 bottles of Starry Gazey Ale (4%) to raise money for the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.
The charity, which has been in existence 125 years, supports fishermen and their families in times of hardship, need, accident, illness or disaster at sea and is a cause close to Cornish heart
The beer will go on sale all over the UK to raise funds for the mission, with the label highlighting the anniversary.
In todays high-tech, high-speed world, it is easy to forget the men who still risk their lives at sea in an industry that has helped to develop and shape Cornwall over generations, said brewery managing director Steve Skinner.
Fishing remains a very hazardous occupation and fishermen are 50 times more at risk than the average worker. The mission does marvelous work and we are delighted to be able to help them in this way and celebrate with pride the great tradition of Cornish fishing.
Starry Gazey Ale is a blend of Cornish malt with a mix of English and Styrian Goldings hops, producing a fresh clean taste with an aromatic finish.
