No beer to mark Propeller's 10th anniversary
July 6, 2007: As strange as it sounds, Propeller Brewing, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, won't be raising a glass to celebrate its 10th anniversary tomorrow.
Despite a very successful 10-year run, countless awards, and the distinction of being Nova Scotia's original and largest microbrewery, Propeller has hit the production wall.
The Gottingen Street brewery, which is well known for its British ales, all-natural sodas and its ongoing community involvement, is unable to produce a single drop more
"This summer has been a unique yet very positive kind of a challenge," said Halifax native and company founder John Allen. "The tanks that we were counting on to double our capacity haven't arrived yet so we owe a lot to our customers for their patience.
"We've done everything legitimately possible to meet the increased demand. Cutting corners and rushing beer through is not an option. Our quality has always been consistent and is the key to our success".
As for the party, he added: "These production issues will be completely behind us in about three weeks time when the tanks arrive. We'll have a staff get-together when all of our accounts are fully stocked. We're not the kind of company that makes a lot of noise about itself anyway. We just make great beer."
